Why I made the choice to bottle feed my twins.
I knew from the beginning that I was not going to breastfeed my twins. I know... I can hear the sound of shock and horror coming from you. Being a first time mom of twins I knew I was going to be overwhelmed with the responsibility of keeping two tiny people happy and alive and I didn't want to have the added stress of breastfeeding. There are many strong opinions on the topic of breastfeeding vs. bottle feeding and what is right and wrong. What I can tell you is that you have to do what you think is the best for you and your family and stand by your decision. Don't let somebody else's opinion determine your choice or your happiness. With that out of the way, I will show you the products that worked for my twins and how to feed twins at the same time.I purchased several different brands of bottles to see which worked the best and the twins responded well to the Dr. Brown bottles. I also liked that I could have blue for my son and pink for my daughter.
For formula I went with Similac. Every baby responds differently so you may have to try several different brands of formula before finding the one that works for your child.
When the twins were newborns I had to feed them one at a time, which can make the task of feeding very challenging. Once the twins were around three months and had better head control, I was able to feed them at the same time. Can I get a Hallelujah!! This meant that my hour long feed session was now a 30 minute feed session. I used the Boppy Lounger and sat them on each side of me on the floor. I also used the Fisher Price bouncer as well. The bouncer is great because it is relatively inexpensive and can be used to play in as well.
